Long time no seen peeps
I have no idea how many reads this, but just because I find it joyful to write in english I thought I'd update this blog as well. There's happened a lot since last time I updated here. I haven't been at the clinic for a very long time, last time was in february this year. I am now trying to live a life without so much interference from the psychologist, though I am still being treated and come to meetings once in a week. Me and Zorro have been competing in agility as well. A lot of disqualifications, but also a few good results. At midsummer we won the jumping class and placed ourselves on a fourth place in agility class. Last week we participated in a double class 1 competition. However, due to some mistakes we had DQ in 3 out of 4 runs. In the one and only run we actually completed, we came around without any faults except on time. But that was entirely my own fault. We got ourselves a fourth place still. We also participated in something entirely new; a running event called Dog Marsh. We were lucky and got a Border-Collie equipage who made Zorro put in an extra fast gear. I've never seen him run that fast for so long, and I'm very proud over him. We took third place in that event amongst the BC-people. Right now I've put the agility training/competing on the shelf. I want to focus more on the gun-dog training, expecially now when fall is closing in and the hunting season kicks off. I don't have my own hunting license, yet, but we might get allowed to see or even take part in some duck hunting. Also I hope that some game tracking tests will be available, I am still "missing" our three first prizes ;) There is some videos up on my YT chanel, you're very much welcome to watch and comment :) Pictures are also up on my other swedish blog. Hello folks!
Sorry for such bad update on this page, but I've been busy and things have gone soo fast. I'm written out from the clinic, so am staying back home again, eating only lunch at the clinic. Me and Zorro have started up our training again which feels great! We've done some game tracking, bit of agility and also field training. Something we've recently started with is Freestyle were I hope to be able to form a program to compete with, perhaps already later this year! For those who are intrested you can have a sneak peak at the program from my YT channel . Other than that life is moving along, I have tons of plans for Zorro and our training, also September is gonna be a busy month for both me and Zorro. 4th of September I'm going with my family to Åre for some camping an entire week! Then I've plans for later in september, am going to visit, hopefully, two toller kennels to inspect future bitches that is planned to be mated next year. Am also gonna participate in a Dog weekend where I'm gonna meet up with lots of other dog owners and train and just have fun talking dogs! I'll try to better up the updates here. A new design is on it's way as well, so keep your eyes up for it! Hello folks!
Long time since last update now, but I've been busy. Ended up at the clinic for my eating disorders again, so now I am slowly going back to eating, next week might be huge change in my food portions so we'll see what happens after that... Last week, 19th of July, me and Zorro participated in a Working Test here at Gotland. And to be honest, for not training much at all I believe we did pretty great even if we "just" got 18/100 points. But I am very proud over how Zorro acted in this new kind of enviroment and that he didn't take off as soon as they had fired the gun. He also worked quietly during the entire test, even if he whined and felt totally unfocused between the four small stations that the test was divided in. But now I at least know what to practise more on and I am more than willing to give it another shot next year! Today I also went to Ala for some fetching training with three others from the Gute Toller group. Zorro did awesome, and we're continuing our work with the duck. I still have hope of someday competing or at least participating in a real Tolling Test with all kinds of animals to fetch. Hello folks!
I'm sorry I haven't been updating that much, but I've been spending the last 7 weeks on a psychiatric clinic where I've been taken care of because of my anorexia. But today I was finely allowed to leave that place, even if I have to come back for lunch and dinner I am now allowed to sleep in my own bed and also get to start working! :) I'm gonna try to update as good as I can here, me and Zorro have a small goal to participate at this Working Test this summer, but we'll see how it goes with the training. If I against all odds decide to participate I'll probably just do it for the fun of it and not expect anything great of Zorro other than to have fun and learn :) until then I'll be busy with work, life and well all that kind of things that involves being out of that clinic ! Yesterday me, mum and Zorro went to Sjonhem here on Gotland to meet up for a trial in game tracking. This would be first time for Zorro to compete in open class, where there was some new rules and with that a harder way of tracking. The trail itself was a bit longer than 600 m, had been laying for minimum time 15 hours. Things that were new was that you had to go into this route and let the dog search for the trails start. This was a nervous thing for me since you were given no directions whatsoever and the route was like 25x25 m. But Zorro did great. In fact he did awesome whole way except on the return where he lost the trail sadly, but even though he was given a 2nd prize, the judgers liked him so much he was given a special prize, being the judgers favourite of all the dogs. A dog they'd like to own and hunt with. So over all I am very satisfied with Zorro's trailing, we just need to practise on the return :) Zelda with Åsa who passed the beginner class, and me and Zorro with the special prize and diploma :)
Hello again! Days are kinda busy here but still rather calm. Yesterday I took Zorro with me to visit a friend up in northern Gotland. We took all the dogs out (she has 5 schnauzers drawf size + one english setter) for a walk. We ended up being out for almost 2 hours and the dog ran, played and Zorro and Thelma also baded some in the water where Zorro took a swim, silly retriever ;) Today we went out for some fetching training for one hour and then met my neighbours and their two dogs, a daschound and a swedish white elkhound, both around 1 year old. Zorro knows the daschound Morris since last summer but the white elkhound is a newbie so of course he had to show him that he's the boss. And don't worry he was never mean, just growled and did fake attacks when the dogs got too much over him or were too excited. Afterwards they all walked side by side without any difficulties. I am hoping that I can join my neighbours for a walk tomorrow in Ihreviken where Zorro and Tass can run around. Holding my thumbs for good weather! We also trailed a bit today. I came back kinda late after fetching to lay out the trail, so the trail wasn't more than 3 hours old when we took it at 5 o'clock. It was 250 m long and had 5 turns and one turn that went back along the trail and then out (hard to explain). He did very well so I am hoping he'll do as good on the test the 29th! :) Zorro with Thelma by the water yesterday :)
Happy Easter everyone!
I know I suck on updating this page, but I'll try to better up! Today's plans is to go out trailing with Zorro, that is as soon as the weather has calmed down. I laid out a blood trail last night and it's been pouring down and blowing since early morning here. However I don't want to wait too long since they've promised snow (!!!) later on today. I beg it won't come... It is April now as you know and to me it means that a hectic month is taking it's start. The 17th of August me and my friend are going to start up an agility course for beginners which will last 6 times (not 6 days in a row though). 21-22 is the start of the project me and my friend have been working on. It's a freestyle course that lasts the entire weekend so I am very much looking forward to this! The weekend following after that is also scheduled, with me helping out on our other classmates' project, an agility competition on the saturday 28th of April, and the day after that I've planned to compete in game tracking again with Zorro, open class. I'll try to explain more about it next time because it's pretty much to explain and I don't want this to get too long, hehe. Of course I'll have homework to do, my dog to train (and myself!) and prepare for the graduation. So I believe it'll feel like everything passes by in a flash and then all of sudden I'll be standing on Hamnplan's roof screaming out together with my classmates, graduating. Can't wait for it ^^ Hello folks!
Now I've gotten the videos from last weekend when me and Zorro competed in agility for first time. You who want to see can either go to my swedish blog and check them out, or go to my youtube channel, lisaheartfanta and look at them from there :) Latest news then. I made a phone call to Helge who takes care of the tests of game tracking and told him I wanted to participate in the tests in April. Apparently there was only one day that I was allowed to compete, but at least it's something. So now we're preparing for that and started already today by going a trail I laid out yesterday. It was around 400 m long and 17 hours old. Zorro had a brilliant speed, not rushing as he has done lately. It was calm and concentrated. I suppose he just had to put a lot of focus on this since it has been raining and snowing during the night and it's around zero in temperature outside. But boy I had a satisfied, but wet, dog who walked with the hoof all the way home, through a wet forest and field. Other than that we've been training a bit on the pilates ball and practised on advancing some tricks. In between that I've made cheeseballs, and no it's not for humans but for dogs. The recipe is made of water, wheat and a bit churned cheese. Very yummy actually, works as good for humans as it does for dogs ^^ Hello folks!
This past weekend me and Zorro were on our very first official Agility competition. It was a lot of fun even though we got disqualified both of the days. But Zorro did very well all the time, I was the one who messed it up. First time I ran into a jumping obstacle and ruined our run by not getting up fast enough and by that Zorro took his own decisions and got into the wrong end of the tunnel in front os us. The second time I was too fast to move away without being totally certain that I had Zorro with me, which caused him to run into a tunnel (yepp, again with the tunnels) that he wasn't supposed to run to and we got DQ. And I admitt it feels shitty, but hey, at least I got more experience of competing and I also know now what to practise on until next competition, whenever that will be. Probably in summer since there's no time, money or even any competitions on this island until then. But we're gonna focus on something else until easter holidays. The game tracking tests are coming up in the end of April so we need to practise for those. Also I'm going to have a lot to do in school so maybe we just practise fetching and game tracking for a while now and take a jog every now and then. That's pretty much it for today. I'm gonna try to get the videos up from the past weekends competition, but I dunno when I'll get them so keep your eyes open! Hello folks! Today has been a chill out day kinda, we haven't done much other than trying to get Madde's dog Pim to mate with a female dog. Tomorrow we are going to Denmark to look at Madde's puppy, it's gonna be awesome! The puppies are 4 weeks old so I'm probably gonna fall in love instantly haha. Luckily it's not me who's buying one of them ;) Here's some pics from today! |
What will I find here? Here I will be updating about our training and daily life. I hope you'll find it entertaining! :) Archives
